    Genjutsu Wrongly Removed

Post  Takusen on Tue Jun 22, 2010 5:11 pm

Okay, I see why you would think of the reasons you removed them for.

    You are infact mistaken,

Genjutsu affects the mind, it creates Illusions VIA the senses, the Genjutsu must be activated via a sense, but the actuall illusion take place within their mind.

Otherwise, by the way your portraying it.
Initialling the Ninjutsu techniques; Disturbing Buzz, not real name but, the jutsu creates a ringing tone in the victims ears, in what your saying, that would be classed as Genjutsu, which it infact isn't its a Ninjutsu.

    basically.

Genjutsu affects the victims minds by playing illusions, these illusions are activated by one of the five senses.

    ^
That is the reason, for the huge variety of Genjutsu's avaliable.

    Thanks,

    Well yea?

who's the one putting Genjutsu that affects the mind as a ninjutsu. a good example of this is the fact of shikamaru's fight with one of the sound village during the chuunin exams.

Who's the one doing this? and also is it really a big deal? it can be a quick change.

genjutsu affects the senses to create the illusions. basically it changes the inputs to the mind form these sensory input points in order to amke the illusions seem real. Thing is the genjutsu I removed are genjuts that cause people to forcibly act different than they nromally woul which goes past just the senses and illusions, that is mind control. I've already talked with Akane and others about hwo Genjutsu works and the jutsu I rmeoved can't work as you say they do.

Idk, genjutsu has always annoyed me in general when it comes to rping. How do you gauge who is affected by the genjutsu? and, if everyone, how do you dodge it? How do you survive it? How does your character keep from going batshit insaaane?

Example: a fire ball is shot at your character.
Solution: Either dodge it, or use one of your own jutsus to counter it.

Example: you are thrown into a genjutsu causing your character to go insane.
    Solution: uhh....

Theres a reason its rarely used in the anime.

That is true. and I think really in my solution, you could have a dice roll. Of course it most likely will be shot down immediately

but of course a dice roll might be the best idea for genjutsu. It wouldn't be hard to set up. I mean it could be something like this

High genjutsu user VS. a Ninja

Genjutsu user uses genjutsu (has to get a dice roll of 8+ to catch person in it)
    He rolls a 9

Ninja is caught (has to roll a 9+ to get out)
    He rolls a 7

    Genjutsu is still on user

Genjutsu user attacks his mind and almost destroys it

ninja rolls again (he gets a 10)
    he gets out of genjutsu

something like that would work... wouldn't it?

Alright, lets say we do it your way.

    Genjutsu roller: 6
    Your ninja: 3

You get caught in genjutsu that turns your character insane.

    Solution: uhhh......

it doesnt solve the problem. like i said, people rarely use genjutsu in the anime or manga. It is either overpowered (like itachis thousand stab thing), or underpowered (like the clone user in the forest during the chuunin exams)

Its either rigged or underpowered, and id rather use neither of those against someone.

    *Tries to solve all problems*

Z/Ell: Z's idea would work, as a genjutsu shouldn't be a single post deal, the ninja would have several chances to break free. The problem is though: How do you know if the ninja is telling the truth about the die roll?

Kaiden/Taku: They don't HAVE to be removed, you could just put "Kurama Kekkei Genkai Required" as that clan has the special ability for Genjutsu to affect your mind, senses, actions, and it can even go so far as to harm you.

    *Hopes most of it worked*

    Heres my example.

The dice_roller person is an account that I made so that he could be the dice roller. It's required that you have to do this.

and if you needed me to I could write up a small tutorial on how to use the dice rolls and how to apply them to Genjutsus. It might be a little thing that Genjutsu users have to make sure they follow but hopefully everyone follows along.

(yes the dice roller is an account, but the thing is that at the bottom of your post that you are creating to your topic, there is a little option for dice rolls now, so that's how it works)

I don't see why not. Just don't spam it. It's still a chance that it won't be accepted, I mean as Kaiden said when I was talking to him, "your adding an element to an RP that does not require skill but only luck."

I mean yes it is, but it's either that or genjutsu is going to be freaking hard to figure out.

You should do it so that lets just say a Gennin * For some unknown reason* attacks a kage or something and uses Genjutsu on them that if the opponent is a higher rank than the genjutsu user that he should get a +4 to the dice roll to make the Skill part relevant ?

Thats exactly why i didnt want dice rolls. Now we need to figure in rank for each characters roll, we have to configure in their intelligence, we need to add in the enemies bonus over them...... Its all downhill from there.

the way i see it you just need special counter-genjutsu training. you know, learning the release jutsu. and from there , i see it almost like a normal fight, if u come under a genjutsu, you can see or not see through it. then u can use the release jutsu, and the jutsu is broken. but as in a normal fight, you have to consider your skill, and the opponents skill.

    U got that?

Exactly the reaosn you need Stat systems.

In my experience of Roleplayer genjutsu, i have seen techniques like these, and they are not exactly Non-Genjutsu. Genjutsu affects the users Mind, creating illusions. These illusions can be made with the 5 senses.
    Touch
    Taste
    Hear
    See
    Smell

But the variation of genjutsu is enormous as Takusen said.

    For example,
    Hell viewing Genjutsu.
    Which Sense does that affect.

pretty much all of them, the victim feels they are in a completely different universe, this WOULD make the victim act differently.

Its not the GENJUTSU that is affecting the victims actions, its what the GENJUTSU shows the Victim and how they react to it, themselves.

I see no problem with those Genjutsu Techniques.

The genjutsu I removed forces them to do something that isn't natural and somehting that an illusion woulsdn't cause. Having someone react to an illusion and them doing something forcibly are two different things.
